among the settings options "age" appears and when activated they allow me to change the year in which I am seeing the tree, but I do not know how to put years B.C.

There is not currently a way to set the "Age On" feature to a BCE* date.

*BCE stands for Before the Common Era, and is frequently used in academic and scientific publications (along with CE) because they are religiously neutral terms. I only mention it, because you will see the abbreviastions used in Family Echo. They are functionally identical to BC and AD.
