cannot add parents or siblings to the tree

I don't have the option to add parents or siblings to the wife of someone on my tree. the only options are 'add partner/ex' and 'add child'. my sister also has access to the tree, and she has the option to. but why can't I?

I think it's a permissions issue. I am having the same problem. Because I am not the founder, I can't add ancestors, just descendants.
