This might be because you did not create the tree, it just got shared to you? If this is the case, then your editing powers are more limited than the tree's creator. Try asking them to do it, or to share the tree to your wife, who will be able to as they are her blood-relatives.

If you did create the tree, then this could be a bug. Try contacting Family Echo directly.
