Can a copy a portion of my tree to make a new tree?

Not from within Family Echo, but if you export your GEDCOM file, there are many utilities that let you manipulate them. You could then upload that new GEDCOM file to Family Echo. Note that photoes are not exported or imported with your GEDCOM file.
