I emailed the site's creator and received this response:
"To change the 'me' person you can click the new person, create a share link (that includes editing permission) and paste that link somewhere. Then remove the family from your account (via the 'My Account' page), open the link, and click 'Add to Account' in the top right.
FYI your family data is not at risk during this process."
