How do I remove a branch of a tree and save it as its own tree?

I thought it would be a 'change or delete' function. I get 'This person cannot be deleted because this would split the tree into separate pieces.'

Splitting the tree is exactly what I want to do.

I thought I could delete the decedents parents and then save it as a separate tree.

This tree is so large that I need to split it for the information to be manageable.
