how do i backup all of my family tree before i allow others to edit?

i would like to back up my complete f/tree including photos,do i save it in documents,downloads ,disc,thumb drive.what is the best option?

You would go to Download/ export this family then you will be given five options several have more details about that selection. Then you pick the one you feel is best for you and then you will have a copy of your tree. I would say most people probably do a GEDCOM as it can then be imported into a lot of other genology programs.
