Select the person, then click on the photo (at the top of the Sidebar). You'll be given an option to Upload a photo, but there is also a box labeled "None". Click that box and you'll get a confirmation popup box asking if you're "sure you want to permanently remove the picture for this person?". If so, click the OK button and it will be deleted.
