Why do I see the family tree differently from the 'founder?'

My cousin set up the tree and sent it to me to verify for accuracy.
According to him the tree he sends is in correct birth order for each generation, yet I see some of the generations in random birth order and others in reverse birth order.
Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Maybe I'm feeling particularly stupid this morning, but I've got a few people on my (fictional) family tree that have either changed their names or taken-up aliases. I was hoping to use the middle name input to note their new names, however I can't seem to find it. I remember there being one, there is an option in one of the drop downs to show middle names, I just can't seem to find it.
