I am wondering if these charts can be downloaded into other programmes and if, which ones?

Click on 'Download/Export this family' at the bottom of the sidebar. This will lead you to a menu which should help you along (an issue with Dynamic HTML is dealt with in the FAQs).

If you download your file in GEDCOM format then you can import it into any family tree maker that supports that file type.
