You can delete the person if it doesn't break the tree. If it is just the partnership that is in error, you can use the 'Change or delete' option in the left-hand panel to 'Change partner' and then remove the partner added by mistake.

for me, it helped me to sign out and sign back in for the tree to refresh and then i was able to delete a partner whom i had issues deleting before. i think the key is to start a new session.
