Options don't stick.

If I amend a colour (e.g. red tex for deceased) or display options (e.g. show DOB), next time I log in, they have all reverted to deault.

Maybe those bits are stored as cookies, and you have cookies turned off? I'm just guessing here, because the options are kept between logins for me, so I haven't been able to reproduce this.
