How can I add my parents as a son and mother?

This may seem odd but I was wondering if I was able to put my fathers mother as the mother of me with my dad as my father and her son?

I just tested it out of curiosity.  While the program allows you to make the three generations, and then go to yourself, choose a new mother, and choose the grandmother as that mother...  It then rearranges the tree and you are put on the same level as your father, AKA same generation, you appear basically as his brother and he is not reflected as your father at all.
