I would like to create a copy of one of my family trees that I can share with others without having to worry about unwanted editing. I have already exported the file and imported it again, which worked just fine. However, the pictures were apparently not exported.

The format I used was "read only html page", which was the first option. After looking at the other options, I don't think any of them let me export the tree with all the pictures.

Am I stuck having to add them manually or is there an easier way that I missed?

Thank you very much!

GEDCOM format has a data type for photos, but Family Echo doesn’t use it when exported to GEDCOM. If exported to any FamilyScript, CSV or plain text, there is no photos in exported files too. But if you export to HTML, photos are inlined as base64, so you can share it but HTML file cannot be imported to any genealogical software.

I do't normally use photos in my tree, but I added one as an experiment, and when I exported the tree as "Read only HTML page", that page contained the image. But I opened the exported page immediately on my computer. I didn't try to email it to anyone or anything like that.

You are correct that the other options do not export pictures.

You can share your family tree with people without giving them edit rights to the tree. Just unclick the "Allow [name] to edit family tree" box on the share screen.
