Why are some names 'grayed out" and we can't share with them? they're not dead..

The person is grayed out because the database thinks that person is dead. If this is in error all you need to do is edit the person's data. Specifically when in the edit mode, under the "Personal" tab, make sure "this person is living" is checked.
